Westy thanks the fans

Midfielder Ian Westlake says the United squad are setting their sights high after gatecrashing the top-six last weekend.

Amazingly, United hit sixth spot in League One on Saturday evening after the 4-2 win against Millwall at Elland Road.

The 13-game unbeaten start to the season has propelled the club from being rooted to the foot of the division - 15 points adrift of the rest - to within touching distance of current leaders Carlisle United.

But Westy, who returned to the starting line-up for the mauling of the Lions, says there'll be no basking in the reflected glory of what has been an unbelievable start to the season.

"It was a shame what the League did to us before the season started, and we couldn't have imagined a start like this," said the former Ipswich favourite.

"We were looking at the possibility of the Play-Offs by Christmas, but we are there now so who knows what will happen.

"We're not a group who will say 'that's brilliant', we say 'that isn't good enough, we want to be top.' The manager is proud of us, but we won't be sitting back and looking at it.

"We have to keep working hard to make sure it stays like this. We have to aim higher."
