Dennis Wise points the way at York

United boss Dennis Wise has been nominated for the Coca-Cola League One Manager of the Month Award for October.

Wisey has already scooped the awards for August and September, and he is now in the running to make it a well-deserved hat-trick.

The unbeaten start to the season extended last weekend, following the 4-2 win against Millwall at Elland Road, and United have won 11 and drawn two of the first 13 league games.

During the month of October, United won four league games and drew one, and progressed in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Oldham, Yeovil, and Brighton were all beaten 1-0 in the league, Millwall were dispatched with ease on Saturday, and the only dropped points came with a 1-1 draw at home to Leyton Orient.

During that time, Wisey has presided over a run that has seen the club rise from the relegation places to the top-six.

The boss could face stiff competition for the award from Swansea boss Roberto Martinez, who has a 100 per cent record for October, but the Welshmen have played one league game less than United.

The other nominees for the League One award are new Carlisle manager John Ward and Brighton boss Dean Wilkins.

The winner will be announced on Thursday lunchtime.
