Jonny Howson thanks the fans at Yeovil

United manager Gary McAllister was delighted to secure a top-six finish at Yeovil on Friday evening - but the Scot insists it is just a "small step" towards where we want to be.

"A lot of people here have had to suffer quite a bit, but nothing has changed yet," said the boss.

"The achievement is small in that we've got to the Play-Offs. The big one is getting out of this league.

"Everyone has been battling the whole time at the club, since that handicap was put on them, to stay alive and keep going, but we've made a step forward.

"I'm pleased we're in the Play-Offs, but the achievement is down to the players.

"Everybody is pleased, but it's a case of not over celebrating. It's part of the job being done, now it's a case of getting focused and tuned in.

"We'll know who we play next weekend and once we do there's a lot of hard work to put in."

Dougie Freedman scored the only goal of the game at Huish Park to secure a 1-0 victory to ensure a minimum finish of sixth-place in League One. Freedman's goal came after four minutes and United were reduced to 10 men when Alan Sheehan was sent-off late in the game.

"it was difficult for Yeovil to play against 10 men, but there's always that feeling you have to run that bit further and that bit quicker and thats what we did," added the boss.
