Striker given clearance to play in Football League...
Striker Malcolm Christie has been given clearance to play in the Football League for Leeds United.
The club received confirmation on Friday morning that Malcolm is now eligible to play in the League and he will go straight into the squad for Saturday's game against Hartlepool United at Elland Road (3pm).
The former Middlesbrough and Derby marksman, who has signed non-contract forms with Leeds United, made his debut for the club in Monday's FA Cup first round replay at Northampton Town.
The 29-year-old was registered with the FA in October when he made his first appearance for the club in the Totesport.com League, and that registration ensured he was available to play in the FA Cup.
The club kept his FA Cup appearance a closely guarded secret on Monday, and his debut was only confirmed when the teamsheets were exchanged at Northampton.
The striker, making his first appearance since April 2007, impressed manager Gary McAllister, and his presence gives added competition for places in the front-line.
Christie gives added strength to an already full squad for manager Gary Mac to select from against Hartlepool.
