On January 1 2011, the Leeds United Foundation beaome active and be the banner under which the club will deliver all its Community and Education work in the future.

Traditionally these activities have all been undertaken by the club's Football In the Community Scheme.

It is not all change however as the staff of the Community Scheme led by Mick Ferguson remain with the Foundation which now benefits from Charitable status.

This status increases the funding options available to the Foundation include 'Partnering' with businesses to deliver CSR initiatives within the community.

The objectives of the Foundation are for the benefit of the community generally and in particular the inhabitants of Yorkshire and the surrounding areas are as follows:-

• Community Participation
• Provision for the involvement through sport and education using the football club as a reason for becoming a participant.
• Promotion of Leeds United in the community.

Leeds United CEO Shaun Harvey said: "The incorporation of the Foundation and the commitment of the club to support it should lead to us being able to positively affect the lives of many people within the area using Leeds United to open doors that wouldn't normally be available to them. This is a very exciting development."

The Foundation has appointed four trustees that will be supplemented further in the future. The Chairman of the Foundation is Jim McAulay, he is joined by Councillor Andrew Carter, Gary Williamson and representing the club is Shaun Harvey.

The Trustees

Jim McAulay has been involved in football for almost 60 years, on both a national and local level. As a match official, he has officiated at Wembley and in major European ties, and he has also been involved with the West Riding County FA for almost 30 years. Jim, currently a Vice President at the WRCFA, is also an Elland Road regular, in his role as referee liason officer.

Councillor Carter was recently the join-leader of Leeds City Council. He is the Conservative Member for Farsley and is a well-known and respected figure around the City.

Gary Williamson is CEO of the Leeds Chamber and has a number of directorships, including Financial Leeds, and as a director of the Association of Yorkshire Chambers of Commerce Gary represents the views and opinions of the region's Chamber and their business members on national and regional forums.

Shaun Harvey is the CEO of Leeds United while Mick Ferguson, a former goalscorer with Brighton, Coventry, and Everton has headed up the club's Community Scheme since 1998.
