Pablo Hernandez: We need to be focused

El Mago on Luton Town.

Leeds United playmaker Pablo Hernandez spoke to the media ahead of Tuesday’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Luton Town.

The Whites are back in action at Elland Road, looking for back to back wins in the division, following an impressive 3-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday.

Hernandez, though, isn’t expecting it to be a straightforward task to pick up another three points, as the Hatters come into the game unbeaten in their last five matches and scrapping for their lives to remain in the Championship.

“We need to give 100 per cent in every game,” said Pablo Hernandez.

“We know the fans might not be in the stands, but they are behind us from home and we need to play for them.

“Every game is important now and we need to be focused on our next game against Luton Town.

“It’s a home game, but it’s a difficult game as Luton need the points in order to avoid relegation to League One.

“They are a strong team who defend well, they are a compact team and it can be hard to attack this kind of team.

“We need to continue with our style, though, and not lose our identity.

“We need to move the ball, try to find the spaces and try to create chances.”

Hernandez who missed Leeds’ first game of the restart through injury, returned to the action on Saturday as a substitute, providing a wonderful assist for Jack Harrison to score United’s third goal against Fulham.

Ahead of Tuesday’s fixture with Luton, he also gave an update on his own fitness.

“Obviously I’m not 100 per cent,” said Hernandez.

“But I feel good, I feel like I can play and help the team.

“The final decision is up to the manager, I know the situation and how important it is to win games.

“To me now, it doesn’t if I play more minutes or less, if I can help the team for 10 minutes I will give everything in those 10 minutes and the same if the manager decides 45 or 90 minutes.

“All of the players in the squad need to be ready to play and help the team and this is my mentality now.”
