Adam Forshaw: I’m on track

Midfielder on comeback trail.

Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw spoke to the club’s official website to give an update on how his recovery from hip surgery is going.

Forshaw first injured the joint between his hip and groin in the pre-season friendly at Cagliari, managing to continue playing until our Sky Bet Championship game with Charlton Athletic in September when the injury unfortunately worsened.

Following discussions with various experts, the decision was made to send Forshaw to the US to visit the Steadman Clinic in Colorado for surgery and Forshaw spoke about that process.

“The specialist in Colorado was recommended,” said Forshaw.

“Rob Price (head of medicine and performance) had been out with a player before as well, when he was at Liverpool.

“I’m seven weeks since the operation now which was a success and everything is going well.

“I feel good, I’m on track so far and the plan was always to be ready for the start of next season.

“The support everyone in the medical team has given me has been brilliant, they’ve stuck by me in what has been a terrible season for me in terms of injuries, they really have all been great.

“Obviously it is their job and protocol, but they genuinely do care and want the best for me, they’ve helped me so much and hopefully I can get back as soon as possible.

“There’s been a good atmosphere at Thorp Arch throughout the season and it has been nice for me to still be a part of it, having breakfast with the lads, being in the gym and treatment room with them and going to as many games as possible too.”

Forshaw also revealed the next steps on his journey to return to action over the coming weeks.

He said: “I’m due to be off the crutches shortly and then it will be a case of building strength up.

“I’m managing to get in the pool at the training ground as it comes under medical at the moment, so I can travel to work for that reason.

“I’ve got a gym at the house where I’m doing a lot as well.

“It’s a massive relief for me and a weight off my shoulders, I feel a lot more relaxed about everything now.

“I’m looking forward to pushing on from here and enjoying my football again.”
