CHARITY GAME FOR BRENDAN ORMSBY

All-star fixture to support former captain...

A Leeds legends XI will take on a John Sheridan XI in a benefit game for former United captain Brendan Ormsby, who sadly suffered a stroke shortly before Christmas 2013.

The star-studded fixture will take place at Throstle Nest, the home of Farsley AFC on Sunday April 19 with a 1pm kick-off. Tickets are priced at just £5 and can be purchased online - click here .

A host of familiar faces, including United head coach Neil Redfearn, Gary McAllister, Gary Kelly, Nigel Martyn, John McLelland and Simon Grayson, will be in action to support Brendan and his charities.

The game will also be officiated by 2010  World Cup final referee Howard Webb and Premier League referee Martin Atkinson, and there will be a special guest appearance from boxer Josh Warrington, just a week after his huge title fight at Leeds' First Direct Arena.

Brendan, signed by United boss Billy Bremner in 1986, skippered the club to the FA Cup semi-final and the first ever Play-off final in 1986/87.

Brendan joined from Aston Villa and went on to make 57 appearances during his three-year stay at Elland Road, where he proved to be a popular figure.

He remained a regular face at Elland Road even after his retirement, and was a stadium tour guide for supporters as well as appearing in the corporate lounges on matchdays.

All money raised on the day will go to a number of charities – The Stroke Association, Speak Ability Care and Brendan’s care.

Tickets can either be purchased online by clicking here , by emailing joshua@farsleyafc.com or by calling 0113 255 7292.
