David Hockaday on Capital One Cup clash…

United make the short trip across West Yorkshire on Wednesday evening for the second round of the Capital One Cup and the head coach insists he knows how important the derby clash is.

David Hockaday’s men will meet Bradford City for the first time at Valley Parade since October 2000 and the head coach says nobody wants to win the game more than him.

“I think that every game is massive anyway,” said David. “We have got a massive game against Bradford and I know how much it means to the supporters, everybody in Leeds, the president and myself.

“Whatever anybody says nobody wants to win that game more than me because that is how I am, I am a winner.

“I’m really disappointed with the points we have accrued so far in the league, I know we need to strengthen but I believe we have done more than enough to get more points. But we haven’t so we have to take that on the chin.

“We know that we aren’t far off but if you are an inch or a mile away you are still off it.”

Bradford have had a happy time in the Capital One Cup in recent years and reached the final in 2013, and at present only 11 league positions separate the two West Yorkshire clubs.

“We’ll go to Bradford and we’ll be well prepared,” added the head coach. “We know all about them and they will know all about us.

“We need to go there, put on a performance and progress into the next round.

“I’ll be concentrating on us. We have good players and I believe we are capable of playing some good football.

“I believe we are capable of going to Bradford and putting on a show.”
