COOPER AND ADRYAN TO RETURN?

Team news ahead of Tuesday night's visit of Charlton...

Neil Redfearn says Liam Cooper may replace the suspended Jason Pearce in defence for Tuesday night’s visit of Charlton Athletic, while Adryan could be available again following injury.

The United head coach expects to be without injured duo Rodolph Austin and Billy Sharp, although the latter could return in time for Saturday’s Elland Road clash with Blackpool.

Pearce serves his one-game ban after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season during Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Cardiff and Redfearn praised Cooper’s attitude during his wait for a chance in the side.

"He’s been really patient and he’s worked really hard," said Redfearn.

"The good thing is we arranged a game last week behind closed doors so he’s had 90 minutes, which is great.

"He’s ready and here’s his opportunity."

Adryan missed Saturday’s trip to Cardiff through injury but hopes to be back against Charlton, while Sharp is still working on his recovery after being absent for the last two games.

"Adryan’s got a chance, but we’re monitoring Sharp as we go along this week," said the head coach. "He’s coming along better than we though.

"So, fingers crossed, he might be back for Saturday.

"We’ve got one or two out at the moment – most clubs have – but we’ve got to deal with it. What it does do is give the opportunity for somebody else to go in there and stake a claim for a spot."

Redfearn also revealed he may be tempted into making further changes to his side as they look to end a run of seven games without a win.

"I want to try and us to get back to as near to we were when we were winning games," he said.

"I want us to get back into that way of playing and that mindset. It might be a change of personnel that gives us the opportunity as well.

"I’m also mindful as well that we’re playing Saturday in a tough game, we’ve got a tough week coming up."
