Five stats
January 12 1992 will be a date no Leeds fan will forget inside Hillsborough as they tore injury-ravaged Sheffield Wednesday to shreds with a 6-1 win that sent out a message to title rivals Manchester United. Leeds took the lead through Lee Chapman and soon doubled their advantage through a Tony Dorigo free kick. A John Sheridan penalty reduced the deficit before Chapman headed in his second. Chapman completed his hat-trick in the second half before further goals from Mike Whitlow and Rod Wallace completed the route.

Boring boring football it was not, as George Graham's Leeds held Sheffield Wednesday 2-2 in an entertaining Premier League clash in March 1997. Leeds took the lead through Lee Sharpe, before David Hirst levelled. Rod Wallace then put Leeds in front again, but a goal from Andy Booth levelled matters and that’s the way it finished.

Leeds' first win of the 1997/98 season took place on August 13th 1997. Following a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal on the opening day, Leeds then won 3-1 in South Yorkshire thanks to goals from Rod Wallace (2) and Bruno Ribeiro. Graham Hyde scored a consolation for the hosts.

Leeds took a giant step to Champions League football with a comfortable 3-0 win over relegation-haunted Wednesday at Hillsborough on April 30th 2000. With closest rivals Liverpool having lost to Chelsea the day before, Leeds knew a victory would be vital. They meant business from the off and took the lead within the first minute from David Hopkin and further strikes from Michael Bridges and Harry Kewell finished matters.

Leeds' last win at Hillsborough took place on August 27 2006. Just like the opening day win over Norwich City, it was a David Healy penalty that settled the contest after the striker was brought down by Owls goalkeeper Brad Jones, who was subsequently shown the red card.
