Five moments to remember...
Last season’s encounter was one to remember for all concerned, as Alex Mowatt’s early goal won the day. However, it was the performance of goalkeeper Marco Silvestri who earned the plaudits in a superb 1-0 victory for the Whites.

Leeds' final visit to the old Ayresome Park was one to forget for then Champions of the old First Division. Middlesbrough, who had just been promoted from the Second, won 4-1 thanks to a brace from Paul Wilkinson and one each from former Leeds players Tommy Wright and John Hendrie. Eric Cantona responded with a consolation goal for Leeds.

Nigel Martyn certainly won't have happy memories of visiting the Riverside Stadium. On February 9, 2002 Leeds twice took the lead through Eirik Bakke and Robbie Fowler, but Boro hit back first through a Paul Ince shot that bobbled over Martyn and a Dean Windass free header to earn a share of the spoils.

It was goalless start to the 1998/99 season as the two sides met at the Riveside in a forgettable encounter. Leeds, who gave a debut to Clyde Wijnhard, came closest to winning the match when Harry Kewell was denied by by Mark Schwarzer.

Leeds kept up their charge for promotion with a crucial 2-0 win at Ayresome Part in the old Second Division on December 9, 1989. Leeds went into the game without strikers Bobby Davison and Ian Baird, giving starts to John Pearson and Carl Shutt. It was Shutt who opened the scoring before defender Chris Fairclough doubled the visitors' advantage before half-time. Leeds held out and topped the table for the first time in the season.
