REDFEARN EXPECTS TOUGH ADDICKS TEST

Head coach previews the trip to Charlton...

Neil Redfearn is expecting a "tough game" on Saturday when he returns to former club Charlton.

Charlton have lost just once in their last six outings and currently occupy 12th place in the Championship table, five points above Redfearn’s United, who are looking to end a run of three consecutive defeats.

The United head coach spent the 1998/99 season at the Valley, making 30 league appearances and scoring three goals for the Addicks following a £1million move from Barnsley.

“I left Barnsley and went to Charlton when they were in the Premier League and everything was upbeat,” said Redfearn.

“It’s always nice to go back to your old clubs.

“I think they’ve had a decent season. They’ve been in the top half for the majority of it.

“They started really well and were up there to begin with. Then they fell away and looked like they were in a bit of trouble but they found a bit of form again.

“I think at home they’re quite formidable. They’ve got passionate supporters who get right behind them, I can vouch for that.

“It’s going to be a tough game for us.”

Asked about Charlton's danger men, Redfearn added: “If you look at the main striker they’ve got, Vetokele, they paid over £2million for him. He's score a lot of goals and it makes a difference.

“If you were to take Cameron Jerome out of Norwich’s side and put him into Leeds United’s side, he’d make a difference.

“That’s not to knock the boys we’ve had in our side. I think our strikers have done well.

“We’ve had them in this lone role long enough, we’ve had to do it because we had to find a way to results. We did it.

“The strikers have done their bit.”
