St George's Crypt to benefit from Elland Road food-drop...

St George’s Crypt in Leeds is set to benefit from the generosity of Leeds United fans.

The Leeds United Foundation again teamed up with food-bank charity The Trussell Trust, ahead of last weekend’s game against Blackpool, and over a quarter of a tonne of food was donated by fans.

Leeds United Foundation Operations Manager Michael Kinsey was delighted with the response and he said: “We’d like to thank everyone who donated. It was the second time we have done this over the season and the response from the Leeds fans has been terrific.

“The Leeds United Foundation is very proud to play a part in the fight against food poverty in Leeds, and St George’s Crypt in Leeds is a more than worthy beneficiary. The club already has strong links with the Crypt and we’re delighted to be able to help once again.”

Saturday’s donations were sorted at Leeds South Foodbank and will be donated to the Crypt later this week. The food drop was being kindly supported by vehicle-hire company Leeds Commercial, who supplied the vans which were used at collection points on the day.
