WIGAN: STAT PACK

WIGAN: STAT PACK

Andrew Dalton provides the stats ahead of Ipswich's visit...

Leeds have only visited Wigan for four competitive games:
April 5th 2014, Wigan Athletic 1-0 Leeds United, Championship
January 7th 2006, Wigan Athletic 1-1 Leeds United, FA Cup 3rd round
February 19th 2005, Wigan Athletic 3-0 Leeds United, Championship
March 15th 1987, Wigan Athletic 0-2 Leeds United, FA Cup Quarter Final

Five moments to remember:
Leeds' first ever trip to Wigan took place at Springfield Park on a windy Sunday afternoon in March 1987's FA Cup quarter final. Goals from John Stiles and Micky Adams booked a place in the last four of the competition for the first time since 1977.

Leeds' first ever trip to the JJB Stadium took place on the February 19 2005 in the Championship. Sadly, Paul Jewell’s promotion-chasers strode to a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Nathan Elllington, Jason Roberts and Alan Mahon.

A season later, the sides met in the FA Cup third round and a Rob Hulse equaliser two minutes from time ensured a replay at Elland Road. David Connolly had given the hosts the lead before Hulse smashed home in front of the away fans.

Last season’s affair at the DW Stadium was a drab encounter settled by a low shot from Wigan’s Martyn Waghorn’s in the 33rd minute.

Looking at last season’s Leeds United line up at the DW Stadium, only Scott Wootton and Sam Byram remain at the club. For the record the starting XI that day was: Butland, Lees, Pearce, Warnock, Wootton, Byram, Brown, Tonge, Hunt, Smith, McCormack.
