SQUAD DETERMINED FOR STRONG FINISH

Neil Redfearn on the final weeks of the season...

Neil Redfearn insists there is a "real determination" from his players to end the season well as United enter the final three games of 2014/15.

Away trips to Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday await, before the curtain is drawn at Elland Road with a Yorkshire derby against Rotherham United on the final day.

Redfearn’s side head to the Valley this weekend looking to respond from three consecutive league defeats, and the head coach says the squad is desperate to make amends by ending the campaign on a high note.

"I think there’s a determination there and I don’t think they’re thinking that they’re on the beach. You can tell that," he said.

"I thought we put a performance in against Norwich, we just came second best because they’ve got better players.

"They’ve been up there for a reason. But I thought our boys pushed them all the way.

"At 1-0, there was nothing in the game and they won it in the 90th minute.

"It was a much better performance. That was more like us.

"We’ve got three games now where we want to try and get results. There’s a real determination from the lads to end the season well.

"You could see they were gutted at the end of the game."

Redfearn says he has also began planning the club’s pre-season schedule, despite uncertainty over his own future.

"What I’ve done is just concentrate on the here and now, because that’s the only thing I can really affect," he said.

"I’ve started to put pre-season in place – I’ve been asked to do so by Andrew Umbers.

"I’ve got somewhere I want to go and dates when I want the boys to report back. Personal programmes will be put together, the boys will be spark tested last game of the season.

"We’ll see where they’re at fitness-wise and then they’ll be tested again when they come back in.

"We’ll go into 14 days of conditioning and then we’ll go away for a week or eight days and then into the week running up to the start of the season.

"I’ve got a good opposition to play on August 1st, the week before the season starts.

"I’ve got things in place and I’m planning. I’ll continue to do so as I’m being told."
