FOREST: STAT PACK

FOREST: STAT PACK

Andrew Dalton provides the stats ahead of our City Ground trip...

It's back on the road for United and a trip to the City Ground to face Stuart Pearce's ninth-placed Nottingham Forest.

United's last five visits to the City Ground:
December 29th 2013 - Nottingham Forest 2-1 Leeds United, Championship
December 26th 2012 - Nottingham Forest 4-2 Leeds United, Championship
November 29th 2011 - Nottingham Forest 0-4 Leeds United, Championship
August 15th 2010 - Nottingham Forest 1-1 Leeds United, Championship
August 25th 2007 - Nottingham Forest 1-2 Leeds United, League One

Five who played for both:
Steve Stone -  Stone started his career at Forest as a trainee, making 229 appearances and scoring 28 goals in a spell that lasted just under 10 years. From there, moves to Aston Villa and Portsmouth followed before an injury-ravaged spell at Elland Road, which saw the Gateshead born player make only 15 appearances for the Whites after his move in June 2005.

Shaun Derry – The Nottingham-born midfielder joined Forest on loan from Crystal Palace in December 2004 and made 8 appearances for the side. His next club would be Leeds as he moved from Palace in February 2005. He would become a fans' favourite at Elland Road, making 81 appearances and scoring three goals.

Stephen McPhail - McPhail came through the Academy at Elland Road, making his debut in February 1998. He made a total of 106 appearances for Leeds, scoring three times. He had a brief loan spell at Forest during the 2003/04 season, making 16 appearances.

Nicky Barmby – The Hull-born player was Terry Venables' first signing at Leeds manager in the Summer of 2002, joining from Liverpool. He made 31 appearances for Leeds, scoring five goals. During his time at Leeds, he joined Forest on loan in February 2004 and made six appearances, hitting the back of the net once.

Alf-Inge Haaland – Haaland joined Forest from Young Boys in January 1994 and went on to make 93 appearances at the City Ground, scoring seven goals. He joined Leeds from Forest in the summer of 1997 and stayed at Elland Road for three seasons, making a total of 92 appearances and scoring eight goals.

Five stats:
Who can forget the night of November 29 2011? Two days after the tragic death of Gary Speed, Leeds put in a performance that the Welshman would have been proud of, winning 4-0 at the City Ground with goals from Robert Snodgrass, Jonny Howson, Luciano Becchio and Adam Clayton.

Leeds left it very late to secure their third consecutive league win at the start of the 2007/08 season to lift themselves to minus six points. Tresor Kandol gave the Whites the lead before Kris Commons equalised for the home side, but Jermaine Beckford won it in the last minute of stoppage time.

Gary Kelly made his first league appearance at the City Ground in a 0-0 draw on December 22nd 1991. Kells came on for captain Gordon Strachan in a pre-Christmas match to forget!

Lloyd Sam scored the Whites' first away goal back in the Championship at the City Ground on August 15 2010 in a 1-1 draw with Forest. Dexter Blackstock had given the home side the lead before Sam headed the Whites level and earned Leeds a well-deserved first point back in the second tier of English Football.

Neil Sullivan continued his penalty-saving heroics by keeping out his fourth spot kick of the season to deny Kris Commons in an uninspiring 0-0 draw at the City Ground back in March 2005.
