With Leeds and Wigan having long been known as major rivals in the world of rugby league, Rhinos fans are being given added incentive to watch their footballing counterparts do battle in the Sky Bet Championship next midweek.

Leeds United take on Wigan Athletic at Elland Road on Wednesday December 4 (7.45pm) and the game will see the launch of a new ticket initiative aimed at Season Ticket holders for both clubs.

2013 Rhinos Gold and Silver Members can buy tickets for United’s clash against Wigan for just £10 adults and £5 concessions in the East Stand Upper. As part of the joint-initiative, United Season Ticket holders will be offered the same deal for a Super League fixture at Headingley Carnegie next year.

The ticket offer is the first joint-initiative to be implemented since the two clubs announced a new partnership that would see both working closer together.

United acting CEO Paul Hunt said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer an initiative like this for both sets of fans. It’s the aim of both clubs to encourage sports fans in the city, and this can only have a positive effect. Leeds versus Wigan is known as perhaps the most high profile fixture in the Super League calendar, and we’re naturally hoping that some of the Rhinos fans who have experienced that will pay a visit to Elland Road when the two clubs meet in the Championship.”

Rhinos star and ardent United fan Danny McGuire said: “It is great to see both clubs working so closely together. I grew up supporting Leeds United and the Rhinos and still get down to Elland Road as often as I can. The Leeds United boys are pushing hard to get the team back into the Premiership and it would be nice to think that the Rhinos fans can go along to give them their support, especially against our old rivals from Wigan!”

Rhinos 2013 Gold and Silver members can claim the reduced prices in person at the Ticket Office on production of their membership card, via calling 0871 334 1992, and produce their membership card at the ticket collection point.

For safety reasons, under 5s are not permitted in the East Stand Upper. In the event that there are any bookings for under 5s Leeds United will locate these in an alternative area.
