REMEMBERING CHRIS AND KEVIN

REMEMBERING CHRIS AND KEVIN

Matchday information for Blackburn game...

Ahead of kick-off on Saturday against Blackburn Rovers (3pm), the club will be paying tribute to Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight as this Sunday marks 15 years since their tragic passing away.

Chris and Kevin, two lifelong Leeds United fans, were brutally murdered in Istanbul ahead of our 2000 UEFA Cup semi-final against Galatasaray.

There will be a minute's silence in remembrance before proceedings get underway and fans are also planning tributes for the day to show that the pair will never be forgotten.

Further matchday information for Saturday:

Josh returns
At half-time champion boxer and Leeds fan Josh Warrington will be on the pitch ahead of his forthcoming WBC World Featherweight Title fight at Leeds’ First Direct Arena on Saturday April 11.

Josh, the current European Featherweight champion, will be speaking in front of the Elland Road crowd to gain further support as he prepares to take on Dennis Tubieron from the Philippines for the vacant international crown.

Comic Relief matchday mascots
Alongside the traditional junior matchday mascots, keep an eye out for some slightly more senior figures joining the players as they make their way out of the tunnel and onto the Elland Road pitch. After many requests from Leeds-supporting adults wishing to walk out with the team, this weekend those dreams will become a reality for charity.

It’s all in the name of Comic Relief and MT Melanoma Research Fund – a cause close to the club’s heart following the tragic passing of fitness coach Bruce Craven in 2005.

Grassroots goes international
The ever-popular MBi Grassroots scheme on matchdays at Elland Road continues to go from strength to strength, and this weekend’s fixture has attracted junior clubs from across Europe to take part.

Around 350 youngsters will be involved on Saturday, including teams travelling from the Netherlands, France and Wales. They’ll be making up the Guard of Honour, shaking the shirt and escorting the players onto the pitch, as well as participating in the half-time parade to take in the Elland Road atmosphere.

The future’s white
Half-time will also see next season’s United Under-9s enter the pitch and wave to all four stands as they get an early sample of the Elland Road atmosphere.

They could be pulling on the white shirt in years to come so make sure you give them a warm welcome.

Early collections advised
Saturday will be our first game back from the international break and it's set to be another impressive crowd at Elland Road for the Easter weekend visit of Blackburn.

The Ticket Office is expected to be busy ahead of the game due to there being no post on Good Friday and supporters are encouraged to collect their tickets early to avoid lengthy queues on matchday. The North East corner Ticket Office will be open from 9am on Saturday for all ticket collections. The game is a Category B fixture and ticket prices on the day start at £29 for adults and £5 for juniors.

Tickets are on general sale now and can be purchased by clicking here. All ticket details can be found here.
