INTERNATIONALS: COOK STARS AS ENGLAND PROGRESS

United midfielder assists the winner for Under-19s...

Lewis Cook set up the winning goal as England Under-19s beat Finland 1-0 on Saturday afternoon to seal their progress to the next round of European qualifiers.

Amid testing conditions in Skopje, Macedonia, Cook played an inch-perfect through ball for Chelsea's Tammy Abraham to net the game's only goal on 73 minutes.

The United midfielder played 90 minutes before being replaced by Middlesbrough's Dael Fry as the game entered stoppage time. Cook had been an unused substitute two days earlier in the Young Lions' opening 2-0 win over Macedonia.

Next up for Cook and the U19s is Tuesday's clash with Italy, before the 18-year-old returns to Thorp Arch to prepare for next weekend's visit of Brighton.
