Latest summer signing Stuart Dallas is "looking forward to a new challenge" after joining from Brentford on Tuesday afternoon, saying "the chance to play here was one I couldn’t turn down".

The 24-year-old winger became United’s seventh new pre-season addition, penning a three-year deal with the option of a fourth at Elland Road.

“Coming here is a fresh challenge, it’s a massive club and something I’m looking forward to,” he said. “I can’t wait to get going.

"Leeds United is a massive club and the chance to play here was one I couldn’t turn down.

“I know a lot about the club. I think everybody knows a lot about Leeds United – they’re a massive club.

“We’ve got a young squad here – it’s a young, fit, hungry squad. Everything is looking good for the first game on Saturday."

Asked about targets for the new season, Dallas said: “It’s Leeds United, they’ve got to get back to where they are supposed to be. They’re a massive club.

"Hopefully this season we can push on to be as high up the table as we can. From what I’ve seen this morning, the squad is looking in good shape.”

The Northern Ireland international has linked up again his former Brentford boss Uwe Rosler, the man who brought him to English football from homeland side Crusaders back in 2012.

“I knew the gaffer from Brentford,” said Dallas. “He brought me in at Brentford and I enjoyed my time there under him.

“He was a big factor in coming here as well. He knows me, I know him and we know what we are getting from each other. He had a big part to play in it.

“I’d come from part-time football to Brentford and at first it took me a while to get used to things and adapt into the full-time game.

“I went on loan to Northampton. I think that did me good and I came back and I played from Christmas onwards in League One with Brentford.

“We got promoted and I played a good part under Mark Warburton last season. But I’m here and I’m really looking forward to a new challenge.

“I really enjoyed my time at Brentford, they helped me a lot. Everybody there was fantastic and I made friends for life there.”
