YOUNG SQUAD TO FACE ISLE OF MAN

Under-21s set for end-of-season friendly...

A young squad has been named as our Under-21s travel to the Isle of Man on Wednesday evening for an end-of-season friendly against their senior FA side (7pm).

The game, which is part of the IOMFA’s preparations for the forthcoming Island Games in Jersey, will be the first time a professional club has played on the Bowl Stadium’s new 3G pitch.

The United youngsters come into the fixture having ended their season strongly with a third-place finish in the Professional Development League 2 table, narrowly missing out on the play-off spots.

Monday’s 1-0 victory at Coventry, sealed by Eoghan Stokes’ first-half strike, extended their unbeaten run to five games and brought the curtain down on a positive campaign.

Ahead of the visit to the Isle of Man, coach Jason Blunt said: “It’s been a good season and this game is a great way to end it.

“We’re not quite at full-strength because we’ve got a lot of the Under-21s in and around the first team now.

“We have a number of first-year scholars involved again and this will be another great experience for them, just like Monday’s win at Coventry was.”
