BRENTFORD: A FAIR RESULT - ROSLER

BRENTFORD: A FAIR RESULT - ROSLER

Head coach gives his verdict on Saturday's 1-1 draw...

Uwe Rosler was pleased with how his side ended the game to secure a 1-1 draw with Brentford on Saturday and the head coach felt the final result was a fair reflection on "two teams who went for the kill".

Rosler admitted that the visitors took a “deserved” 1-0 lead into half-time after Marco Djuricin had opened the scoring after 29 minutes at Elland Road.

But Mirco Antenucci, a second-half replacement for Alex Mowatt, helped spark United into life after the break and it was his 76th-minute strike which meant the spoils would be shared.

Rosler said: "We wanted the win - everyone could see that - but a draw was fair.

“It was two teams who went for the kill and we ended the last 25 minutes very strongly.

“In the last 25 minutes in the first half they were the better team. They deserved to go in at half-time with the lead.

“But we finished very strong. We got the equaliser, completely deserved, and we went for the win.”

Antenucci’s introduction prompted a shift to a 4-4-2 formation and United reaped the rewards with the eventual equaliser, but Rosler played down suggestions of a change in system from the off for Tuesday’s visit of Ipswich Town.

"People gave us tremendous praise against Derby. Now everything should be changed,” he said.

“When I came here he (Antenucci) said to me straight away 'gaffer, don't play me on the wing'.

“We have a philosophy, a way of playing. We're not having a discussion every week about if we play with one central striker or two.

“We started very well. Then the confidence dropped (after the goal). It was nothing to do with the system."
