BACK TO BUSINESS FOR TAYLOR

BACK TO BUSINESS FOR TAYLOR

Academy graduate ready to pick up where he left off in pre-season...

Charlie Taylor says it will be "back down to business" when he and his team-mates return to Thorp Arch for pre-season training next week.

Having established himself as a first-team regular during the second half of 2014/15, Charlie is now looking to pick up where he left off and impress new head coach Uwe Rosler following the summer break.

“It’s been enjoyable to have a few weeks off, get away, relax and just get your legs back after a tough season,” he said.

“Holidays are done now and now is the time to kick on and get fit, ready for pre-season.

“You can have a couple of weeks away and enjoy yourself but once you’re back it’s back down to business and you want to kick on again.

“I went away with Sam and Alex but haven’t had chance to see many of the others.

“It’s a tight group of lads, it’s good fun each day and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone.”

On Rosler, Charlie added: “I’ve not had chance to see him yet so it’ll be my first time meeting him when we’re back in for pre-season.

“He’s done well in his previous jobs in England and I’ve heard good things about him from other people.

“I’m looking forward to meeting him and working under him.

“All the lads are going to be trying hard but with a new manager there’s that extra incentive of trying to impress.

“The second half of the season was good to me last year and I didn’t really want the season to end.

“I was playing and I thought I was doing well. I just want to kick on and start where I left off.”

Asked whether he would prefer to play left-back or on the left-wing in 2015/16, Charlie said: “I think I’m more of a left back; it’s a position I’ve played throughout my career and in the Academy but as long as you’re in the team, you can’t complain.

“I’ll play anywhere for the team. I enjoyed scoring last season, it’s not something I do regularly but it’s something I’d love to add to again.”
