A DIFFERENT GAME - BOSS

A DIFFERENT GAME - BOSS

Brian McDermott on the Doncaster away trip…

United manager Brian McDermott does not think that our early season cup success at the Keepmoat Stadium will have any bearing on Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship clash.

United ran out 3-1 winners last time out in Doncaster but the boss says he will treat Saturday’s encounter like another match.

Championship highfliers Leicester City and QPR have left the Keepmoat Stadium with nothing this season so Doncaster Rovers can not be under-estimated.

“Leicester have lost there, QPR have lost there so that tells you everything,” said the boss. “It’s a derby game and I’m sure we will have a good following there.

“We’ve got to go there and do our stuff, put on a performance and get the right result.

“The earlier game in the cup doesn’t have any bearing on this game. It is a different game, a totally different match as every game is different. We had a couple of players making their debut that night as well.

“We know what we are going into, I’ve played their many times myself and also as a manager I have been there many times. I’m looking forward to it.”

United will make the short trip to Doncaster looking to bring home the right result as the manager looks to build on the away form.

“They are a really hard working team and with the way they shape their team up you know you are playing against a team that are going to get in your face,” added the manager.

“They work their socks off and they do that for their manager.

“I think that we have been competitive in all the games apart from Millwall and Derby County away.

“We should have got something  from the Blackburn away game and we obviously got the three points from the Charlton match.

“We have just got to keep going and treat this game like any other and try to get the right result.”
