DARKO EXPECTING TOUGH TEST

Darko Milanic gives his thoughts ahead of Friday night's trip to Rotherham...

United head coach Darko Milanic is anticipating a tough test in Friday night’s Yorkshire derby with Rotherham United.

The Millers currently occupy 17th in the Championship table and sit three points below Milanic’s side after a mixed start to the season.

Steve Evans’ men come into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw at Norwich City, but have managed just one league win in their last seven outings having beaten Blackburn 2-0 the previous week.

Milanic is taking nothing for granted though as he prepares for the New York Stadium trip.

"I expect a hard game, they are extremely aggressive," he said.

"The play very directly with strikers and put pressure on. They want to take a second ball, they want to be dangerous.

"They are hard workers and it is our job to be very quick, to be reactive and to recognise the right moments to be calm and to play.

"We want to have good possession and be quicker in the attack.

"I have respect for the trainer and for their team. They have their own strategy, they play very hard and are good."

Milanic is looking for his first win since taking charge of United at the end of last month and says that is the only thing on his mind after two draws and a defeat from his opening three games.

"It’s important," said the 46-year-old. "For me personally, for the squad, for the fans and the owner, it is important that we take the three points.

"It will be difficult but we are good."
