WOLVES: STAT PACK

WOLVES: STAT PACK

Andrew Dalton provides the stats ahead of the Elland Road meeting...

United return to Elland Road this weekend and for the visit of newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers. The home fans will be hoping that manager Kenny Jackett's recent Elland Road record continues, having not tasted success here since March 2010 with former club Millwall.

Wolves' last five visits to Elland Road:

August 18th 2012 - Leeds 1-0 Wolves, Championship

September 10th 2006 - Leeds 0-1 Wolves, Championship

August 20th 2005 - Leeds 2-0 Wolves, Championship

April 2nd 2005 - Leeds 1-1 Wolves, Championship

February 10th 2004 - Leeds 4-1 Wolves, Championship

Five who played for both:

Denis Irwin – Irwin came through the youth ranks at Elland Road, having made his debut in 1983-84 season. He went on to make 82 appearances for Leeds, scoring one goal. He then went on to join Oldham Athletic before winning trophies for fun at Manchester United. He joined Wolves in the summer of 2002, making 84 appearances and scoring two goals.

Paul Butler – Butler signed from Wolves in the summer of 2004, having made 141 appearances and scoring three goals before making 106 appearances for the Whites and scoring four goals. The centre-back was made captain by then manager Kevin Blackwell on his arrival at the cub.

Michael Gray – Gray had two separate loan spells at Elland Road in seasons 2004/05 and 2006/07 respectively. In total he made 16 appearances whilst on loan from Blackburn Rovers. The full-back joined Wolves permanently in July 2007 and made 47 appearances, hitting the back of the net four times.

Andy Keogh – Like Gray, Keogh had two spells at Elland Road. He first came through the youth system and made a solitary appearance away at Portsmouth in the League Cup in October 2004. Following a successful spell at Scunthorpe, he joined Wolves in January 2007, making a total 129 appearances and scoring 23 in a five-year spell. He returned on loan to Leeds in August 2011, scoring twice goals in 24 games.

Sam Vokes – The Welshman joined Wolves from Bournemouth in May 2008 and made 59 appearances, scoring nine goals in the process. In between was a brief loan spell at Elland Road between October and December 2009. He scored one goal away at Bristol Rovers in his 10 appearances for Leeds.

Five stats:

Did you know when Robbie Keane came on for Wolves in the FA Cup quarter final at Elland Road between the two sides, he gave away a penalty in the last minute of the game? Luckily for the Irishman, goalkeeper Hans Segars kept out Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's spot kick and Wolves went through to the last four thanks to a goal from Leeds-born Don Goodman.

American winger Eddie Lewis scored his first goal for the Whites in a 2-0 over Wolves at Elland Road back in August 2005.

Shaun Derry scored one of his only two goals for the Whites in a typical end of season affair at Elland Road against Wolves back in April 2005. Derry who had previously scored the winner at home to West Ham, struck when his free kick deceived visiting goalkeeper Michael Oakes.

“Last one out turn off the lights," wrote the Yorkshire Evening Post ahead of the Whites' must-win Premiership game at home to Wolves in February 2004. Thankfully, the side responded as goals from Alan Smith, Dominic Matteo, James Milner and Mark Viduka earned a valuable 4-1 win in their battle against top-flight relegation

The last player to score in a hat trick in this fixture was Arthur Graham back on September 5th 1981, in a 3-0 victory at Elland Road.
