Luke Murphy looking to add goals to his game…

United midfielder Luke Murphy is hoping that he can help his side mount a Play-Off push in the remaining 14 games by chipping in with some goals of his own.

Luke has one goal to his name in a United shirt - albeit an important late winner on the opening day of the season – but admits wants to see his name on the scoresheet more often.

“I just want to play games for Leeds United,” said the midfielder. “I’m happy at the moment with how things are going personally, but I’m always looking to improve to help the team and hopefully I can keep doing that, starting with three points on Saturday.

“I haven’t scored since the start of the season which is obviously disappointing for me. During my period at Crewe I was used to scoring goals but that hasn’t happened here as of yet.

“Hopefully I can start to push forward a bit more as I feel that I have been playing a bit deeper and chip in with a few more goals.”

Following four successive games on the road the midfielder says that the squad are in a positive spirits after suffering just the one defeat in those four away matches.

“At the moment it is a real positive camp,” said Luke. “We’ve had four away games now, we managed to win one of them and we got two draws.

“Looking at it, Middlesbrough is a really hard place to go and we got a solid point there. A point at QPR is never a bad result with the squad that they have.

“There are no easy games in this league, I’ve only been in the Championship six months and I already know that.”

United return to Elland Road after a five-week absence this Saturday, when Bolton are the visitors, and with five of the next seven games at home the midfielder says it's an important time.

“The last time we played at home it was a really good day as we beat Huddersfield 5-1,” said Luke. “The fans were terrific that day and hopefully we can have a repeat of that on Saturday.

“Bolton have a lot of experience in their squad and we won’t be taking the game for granted.

“I think that this next month is crucial for us if we want to anything this season and try and get promoted. The club have shown that is what we are trying to do.

“We have brought in some really good international players. The manager has made a statement that he is not happy to settle for mid-table. He wants us to push on and try and get promoted.”
