INTERNATIONALS: WEEKEND ROUND-UP

Lewis Cook and Stuart Dallas among those in action...

Lewis Cook played the full 90 minutes as 10-man England Under-19s earned an impressive 3-2 win away to Germany on Friday.

Goals from Sheyi Ojo (Wolves, on loan from Liverpool), Dominic Solanke (Vitesse, on loan from Chelsea) and Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Ipswich, on-loan from Arsenal) secured the victory in Bergisch Gladbach after Jonjoe Kenny (Wigan, on-loan from Everton) had been dismissed at the start of the second half.

Next up for Cook, who collected his second cap for the U19s, is Monday’s trip to Croatia, their final outing of this international break.

Elsewhere on Friday, Dallas completed Northern Ireland’s 3-1 European qualifying win over the Faroe Islands.

The result leaves Northern Ireland just one win away from booking their place at Euro 2016 ahead of Monday’s Windsor Park clash with Hungary, which Dallas could again feature in.

Young goalkeeper Eric Grimes played 45 minutes of the Republic of Ireland U21s’ 4-1 friendly victory over Qatar on Friday, while fellow shot-stopping prospect Will Huffer was an unused substitute for England U18s during Thursday’s 0-0 draw with the Netherlands.
