Striker admits he would swap goals for three points...

Chris Wood says he is glad to be "up and running" after opening his United account last week, but the striker admits he would have swapped the goals for wins in each game.

Wood netted his first for the club since joining from Leicester in last Wednesday’s 2-2 draw at Bristol City, before adding his second in as many games with the equaliser against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

“It’s taken a bit of time and it’s nice to be up and running,” he said following the 1-1 draw at Elland Road.

“But I would have traded the goals for three points in either one of them.

“We’re improving week in, week out – we know we can win these games. It’s about putting it into practice now.

“We can take the unbeaten streak going into the next game.”

Wood levelled proceedings from close-range just after the hour mark, slipping away from his marker to guide home Stuart Dallas’ low cross after Marco Matias had put the Owls ahead in spectacular fashion.

“It took a piece of individual brilliance for their team to score,” said the New Zealand international.

“I thought our back five were very solid and that’s what we’ll take in the positives – we were very solid.”
