REDFEARN CALLS FOR IMPROVEMENT

Head coach wants to see character from his side...

Neil Redfearn has called upon United to show a "strength of character" against Norwich City on Tuesday night, warning his side that a repeat performance of the Cardiff game could result in a heavy defeat.

The South Wales side were 2-1 winners in Saturday’s forgettable encounter at Elland Road, with goals in each half from Sean Morrison and Aron Gunnarsson sealing the points despite Kalvin Phillips’ equaliser.

Redfearn was left frustrated by a display which he admitted was “difficult to explain” and knows that a big improvement is needed for the visit of the in-form Canaries.

Second-placed Norwich have won their last four on the bounce and arrive in West Yorkshire having suffered defeat just once from their last 15 outings.

"We’ll have to have a look at what we’ve got," said Redfearn.

"I said to them afterwards that there’s no way we can have that level of performance against Norwich – it would be a cricket score.

"The one thing we’ve got to do now is show a strength of character.

"The Leeds United supporters will see what they’ve got under the shirts, the players.

"It’s a game where Norwich have got everything to play for. But I’ve reminded them that the season’s still alive and we’ve got everything to play for.

"We want to try and burst their bubble and we want a performance.

"If we get a performance, then we’ve got a chance of getting a result."
