LATE GOAL DENIES U21S

Late Barnsley goal halts young United side...

United's Under-21s were dealt a major blow away at Barnsley on Friday afternoon after conceding a last-minute goal that will deny them a place in the end of season Play-Offs.

United took an early lead through a Lewis Walters strike in the second minute of the game. A strong performance from United was rewarded when Frank Mulhern pounced to double the lead in the 48th minute, but two Barnsley efforts in the 83rd and 90th minutes meant the tie ended in a draw.

This result means that Nottingham Forest's Under-21s have secured the Development League Two North title, with Huddersfield Town finishing second.

United's Under-21 face Coventry on Monday in their final league game of the season, and a select squad will travel to the Isle of Man for a friendly on Wednesday evening. Click here for more details.

United: Grimes, Coyle, Killock, Skelton, Denton, Booker (Bell), Vann (Pearce), Lyman, Parkin, Walters, Mulhern.
