FOREST: EVANS ADMITS DISAPPOINTMENT

The head coach gives his verdict on Saturday's 1-0 defeat...

Steve Evans admitted his disappointment with United’s 1-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

The head coach bemoaned a lack of quality in the final third as Nelson Castro Oliveira’s 60th-minute header saw the visitors claim the three points at Elland Road.

“We’re disappointed but I thought we played well in spells,” said Evans.

“Did we have enough quality in the final third? That was the question.

“Their goal looked marginally offside. We didn’t get a lot from the officials but we’re not blaming them. We didn’t do enough in the final third.

“We have to get one of two players into the football club that can add that extra bit of quality in the final third.

“Slowly, the team is coming together and we’re dominating a lot of games. We shouldn’t be losing the game here today, that’s for sure.

"But credit to Forest, they had one good chance and took it.

“I was frustrated and disappointed as well. We had enough good possession and enough good crosses to have scored today, but if ever there was a game that showed how much we are missing Chris Wood that was it.

“We worked the ball and got into the final third easily. But we didn’t find ways of opening the door.”
