REDFEARN WANTS AWAY MENTALITY CHANGE

Head coach preparing for Nottingham Forest trip...

Head coach Neil Redfearn is encouraging a change in mentality from his side at Nottingham Forest as they look to bring an end to a disappointing run of away results.

United have collected just one win on the road this season – September’s 3-1 victory at Bournemouth – but have suffered defeat in their last three away outings, despite finding themselves in front at Blackburn and Ipswich.

"We’ve got to change the mentality of what’s happening away from home. To be fair, we nearly got it right at Blackburn," said Redfearn.

"The performance was good, at 1-0 up with 20 minutes to go, we should be getting something.

"For whatever reason, we just can’t over the line now away from home. If that’s the case of us changing our way of playing a little bit, changing the mentality to be a little bit tougher, then so be it.

"We’ve got to do whatever it needs to get where we want to be. But it’s got to have our DNA running through.

"There’s no point in us playing a certain way just to be a certain sort of side because it doesn’t suit the majority.

"You’ve got to look at the players you’ve got in your side. But we’ve definitely, definitely got to be more resilient away from home.

"The most important thing is that we work with the group that we’ve got, try and get the message right and try and get the performances right."

After a flying start to the season which saw them labelled as promotion favourites, Forest have stuttered somewhat of late, slipping to ninth in the table after failing to win in any of their last three.

"With that tag comes pressure," said Redfearn. "Some players deal with the pressure well and some struggle with it.

"It’s a big club with big expectations but we’re in the same boat. I think what we’ve got to realise is we’re building, we’re in a process.

"It’s basically been dismantled and put back together again, this side. There’s the influx of overseas players, the influx of young players and the seniors that were already here.

"It’s culminated in a big squad and the most important thing is we have a settled, calm period where we can start reaping the rewards of being settled and start picking results up.

"On Saturday it’s a great game to play in for the lads. It’s a good side to go and try and get a result against.

"If we go and get a win at Forest then you’ve done well."
