COYLE PENS NEW UNITED DEAL

COYLE PENS NEW UNITED DEAL

Young defender extends his stay by a further year...

Young full-back Lewie Coyle has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

Coyle, who progressed through the ranks to sign his first professional contract last summer, put pen to paper on fresh terms at Thorp Arch on Tuesday afternoon.

The 19-year-old featured 18 times for United’s Under-21s last season – scoring once - after overcoming a major injury setback which ruled him out for the opening months.

Coyle also spent time on loan at Harrogate Town during 2014/15, but his spell in the Conference North was cut short due to injury.

The right-back is highly-rated at Thorp Arch and has trained with the first-team since the players returned for pre-season last week.

He will now be hoping to make his mark over the coming weeks as United’s summer schedule of friendlies gets underway at his former club Harrogate on Friday evening.

Coyle’s signing means that all eight youngsters who were offered new deals earlier this summer – Alex Purver, Kalvin Phillips, Lewis Walters, Tyler Denton, Luke Parkin, Jake Skelton and Eric Grimes – have now finalised their stays.
