Warnock and Byram doubts for the weekend?

United manager Brian McDermott is waiting on the fitness of Stephen Warnock and Sam Byram ahead of Saturday’s Elland Road clash with Yeovil Town (3pm).

Warnock suffered an injury in training on Thursday while Byram injured his thigh during the 3-2 defeat at Huddersfield Town last weekend.

The boss also has an added option for Saturday’s game with former Hearts skipper Marius Zaliukas eligible to make his Championship debut. Dexter Blackstock, who made an immediate impact as a sub on his debut at Huddersfield last weekend, will also be hoping for a taste of the action on home soil.

“Dexter and Marius are both experienced players and they know the league as well,” said the boss.

“If you look at our team we have a young team. We have got three young centre halves, and we have Alex Mowatt and Luke Murphy. We have got young players and they will go on and get better.

“With young players sometimes they make mistakes when they are out on the pitch but that is how it is. To add this experience it is going to be really helpful for them.”
