DERBY: A REWARD FOR OUR EFFORTS - UWE

Head coach reflects on 2-1 victory at the iPro Stadium...

Uwe Rosler was full of praise for his United side after claiming a "much-needed" first win of the season away to Derby County on Saturday afternoon.

Tom Adeyemi put Leeds in front at the iPro Stadium with a towering first-half header, but Derby pulled level through Chris Martin’s low strike just three minutes after the interval.

Leeds survived an onslaught of second-half attacks from the hosts, with momentum appearing to be in their favour, before Chris Wood hit a stunning winner two minutes from time to clinch the victory.

“It was very much-needed,” Rosler said. “Only a top performance today would have guaranteed us the three points.

“The first half was exceptional. The tempo was raised in the second half and they scored in a very good moment for them.

“The crowd supported them even more, but then we steadied the ship and pushed on for the win.

“Today we got rewarded for all the effort we’ve put in since I walked through the door.

“I’m very, very happy for the players, for the staff and for the supporters that we have something to show today.”

United now head into the international break on the back of an unbeaten start to the season, with the win at Derby ending a run of four consecutive Championship draws for Rosler’s men.

“The performances have already been there,” he said. “We saw today how many good things we did but we also saw that we are still a very young side.

“Sometimes we’re going to lose our concentration a little bit but we’re bouncing back.

“This group of players have not accepted any defeat so far.

“We made positive substitutions, we went for the win and we got rewarded.”
