REDFEARN RELISHING BOURNEMOUTH TEST

Neil Redfearn on Cherries clash…

Caretaker boss Neil Redfearn says that the trip to face Bournemouth is a good test to see how far United have come this season.

United head to the south coast on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) to face a Bournemouth side that were convincing 4-1 winners in the same fixture last season.

“They have blown a lot of teams to pieces, especially at home,” said Redfearn. “They are a good team and they are a good football side.

“I have said all along that this is probably the toughest game that we are going to have footballing wise. It is going to be a real test for us.

“Not only are they a good football side, they also play at a good tempo. It is a little tight pitch but they still manage to get it down and pass the ball out of tight areas.

“It will be tough but we know that. It is going to be a good test because we like to think that we are going down those lines and it will be good to see how far we have come with it.”

United will go to Bournemouth and will look to match them and Redfearn says his side are capable of picking up a result.

“There is no point us lumping the ball up there because we have got footballers that like to pass it,” said Neil. “We need to be brave enough to pass it and in the right areas.

“We need to be patient and we will need to defend well. We’ll need to be thorough with tracking back and tackling and the longer we stay in the game the more chance we have of getting a result.

“There have been signs in both games that we are capable of creating and scoring goals.

“We play a type of football that is measured and controlled and is in keeping with sides that are going to be successful.

“The lads are enjoying it, you can see that. They are enjoying having the ball and playing so those are the lines we’ll go down.”
