MORE TO COME FROM UNITED - EVANS

Steve Evans previews Thursday's trip to Wolves...

Steve Evans believes there is plenty more to come from United as he prepares for Thursday night’s televised trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Evans takes his side to Molineux looking to make it three games unbeaten in the Sky Bet Championship following last weekend’s goalless draw at Charlton Athletic and the 2-1 victory over Hull City at Elland Road just under a fortnight ago.

It will be Evans’ 10th game in charge of United since his arrival in October, and the head coach expects to see further improvements over the coming weeks as he continues to make his mark on the squad.

“I’ve said it before that it probably takes a couple of months as a manager to work out what’s best for the players,” he said.

“It takes you a couple of months to work out who needs a telling off at times and who needs an arm around the shoulder, you don’t learn that in a week.

“The best managers in world football will tell you it takes a bit of time, but we’re starting to be on top of that now.

“There’s more to come from certain individuals and we’re well aware that the group as a whole needs one or two pieces of quality adding.”

Just two points and four league places separate United and Wolves in the Championship table going into Thursday’s game, and Evans sees similarities between the two sides’ seasons so far.

“Very much like ourselves, I think they’ve been very good in certain games and not so good in others,” he said.

“They’ve shown a real resilience lately. They’ve not been losing matches, they’ve been drawing a lot but they’ve been in a tough cycle of games.

“Kenny Jackett is a man I know particularly well. I’ve come across him on many occasions and he builds powerful teams. He builds teams who like to counter attack with pace and style.

“I’ve been to Molineux on a couple of occasions now and they’ve been fantastic games of football.

“We hope Thursday night is another fantastic game in front of the TV cameras and we hope we can come back with the points.”
