EXPERIENCE WILL MAKE US STRONGER

Jason Pearce sums up the season…

Jason Pearce insists that the experience gained from this season will make the team stronger for the 2014/15 campaign.

It has been a season of two halves for United who sat just outside the Play-Off places at the turn of the year, but the defender says the players will learn from the second half of the campaign.

“I think that you learn from every experience and that it makes you stronger person,” said Jason. “On a personal note I have been through administrations and difficult situations at other clubs and it does make you stronger.

“This season’s experience will hold us in good stead. We have got a lot of young players in our team and we are all learning. This is an experience that we can all learn from.

“It’s been a hard season but it feels like it has gone really quick when you say that there is only one game left. It has been a long season though and we know that we should have done better this year.

“With everything now sorted behind the scenes we can regroup in the summer and go again next season.”

Jason has only missed one game this year, to witness the birth of his first child, and although he feels he has improved as a player he has spoken of the disappointment of goals conceded.

“I’m obviously disappointed that we have conceded a lot of goals,” said the defender. “I’ve played in nearly every game and I want to improve.

“I personally feel that I have had quite a good season but I always want to do better and improve.

“I’ll be looking to work hard in the summer. I’ll have a couple of weeks off and then I’ll start going again and have a good season next year if selected.”

United’s final game of the season comes this Saturday when Derby County are the visitors and Jason is expecting a tough encounter.

“Derby have done really well this season, Saturday will be a tough game,” explained Pearce. “They are a young, up and coming side and they are a good team.

“We went on that bad run but we have now won three from four and it will be nice to end the season on a high and give the home fans something to cheer about.

“We have to go into the game in a positive state of mind like we have done in the last few games. We’ll be trying to get the win.”
