PRE-SEASON: THE ULTIMATE GUIDE

A closer look at our summer 2015 schedule of pre-season friendlies...

Pre-season gets underway this Friday with the first of five friendlies before the new Championship campaign begins at home to Burnley on August 8.

Here, we take a closer look at our schedule as preparations for 2015/16 begin...

HARROGATE TOWN - Click here for ticket details

When? Friday July 10, 7.30pm
Where? CNG Stadium
League: National League North - 15th place 2014/15
Manager: Simon Weaver
Twitter: @HarrogateTown

Leeds' travels begin close to home when they make the short trip to Wetherby Road.

After a slightly disappointing 2014/15 season which saw Town slip six places, the hosts will be looking for a vast improvement in what will be their 12th straight year in the National League North.

One shining light for them during the last campaign was the form of James Walshaw. He netted 12 times after signing from Altrincham, where his impressive goalscoring ratio forced Simon Weaver to act quickly to capture the much sought after striker’s signature.

Did you know? Former United midfielder David Batty, who had two spells at Elland Road (1987-93 and 1998-2004), is currently a vice-president at the CNG Stadium

YORK CITY - Click here for ticket details

When? Wednesday July 15, 7pm
Where? Bootham Crescent
League: Sky Bet League Two - 18th place 2014/15
Manager: Russ Wilcox
Twitter: @yorkcityfc

United make another short journey to Bootham Crescent five days later, where Russ Wilcox begins his first full season in charge of York City.

Having taken over from ex-White Nigel Worthington with the Minstermen just outside the relegation zone last October, he successfully guided them to safety, although their 18th-place finish was a far cry from their appearance in the play-offs just a season earlier.

Jake Hyde was their top scorer last year and, with former United striker Richard Cresswell on first-team coach duties these days, he will be looking to make a statement of intent in the first meeting between the sides since the entertaining 3-3 pre-season draw in 2009.

Did you know? On the last three occasions that the two sides have met in pre-season, Leeds have gone on to finish in at least the play-off places.

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT - Click here for ticket details

When? Tuesday July 21, 5.15pm BST (6.15pm local time)
Where? Sportzentrum Eugendorf, Austria
League: German Bundesliga - 9th place 2014/15
Manager: Armin Veh
Twitter: @Eintracht_News

The German side were a late addition to Leeds’ schedule after Athletic Bilbao had to pull out of their proposed fixture due to Europa League qualifying commitments.

Nevertheless, Armin Veh’s men will provide just as tough a challenge for United at Sportzentrum Eugendorf during their week-long training camp in Austria.

It is Veh’s second spell in charge of the team who climbed from 13th to ninth last season, thanks mainly to the 20 goals scored by veteran playmaker Alexander Meier.

Further attacking threat will be provided from the likes of Haris Seferovic, who represented Switzerland in last year's World Cup. While new Dutch signing Luc Castaignos will want to build on the exciting potential he showed at FC Twente which saw him draw comparisons with Thierry Henry.

Did you know? Eintracht's only win over English opposition away from home came against Burnley in the 1966/67 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup - the year Leeds reached the first of three finals!

TSG 1899 HOFFENHEIM - Click here for ticket details

When? Saturday July 25, 3pm BST (4pm local)
Where? Arasen Stadion, Lillestrom, Norway
League: German Bundesliga - 8th place 2014/15
Manager: Markus Gisdol
Twitter: @achtzehn99

Thanks in no small measure to former defender Gunnar Halle for helping organise the fixture, Leeds will travel to Norway for their penultimate pre-season encounter at the home of Lillestrom where Uwe Rosler has played and managed.

Despite seeing rising Brazilian star Roberto Firmino make his big-money move to Liverpool, Markus Gisdol's ambitious Hoffenheim squad still possesses plenty of attacking threat through the likes of winger Kevin Volland who netted 10 times last term.

Meanwhile, they have just strengthened at the back after completing the signing of highly-rated young Swiss centre-half Fabian Schar from FC Basel.

Did you know? Hoffenheim may be aiming for Europe right now, but back in 2000 they were a fifth division side in Germany and remarkably climbed through the leagues to reach the top-flight in 2008.

EVERTON - Click here for ticket details

When? Saturday August 1, 3pm
Where? Elland Road
League: Premier League - 11th place 2014/15
Manager: Roberto Martinez
Twitter: @Everton

Everton are the opposition for Leeds' only home match before the season starts.

They endured a difficult season domestically in 2014/15 with their Europa League commitments taking its toll on a fairly small squad.

Romelu Lukaku was the joint-top scorer in Europe with eight goals and his physical prowess will provide the perfect test of United’s resolve in their final preparations.

Quality comes in bundles in all areas of the pitch for the Toffees, especially from the likes of Kevin Mirallas, Steven Naismith and Aiden McGeady, and watch out for Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman popping up from the full-back positions to support the attacks.

Ross Barkley, who made four appearances on loan at Elland Road during the 2012/13 campaign, is one of two former Whites at Roberto Martinez’s disposal, while Luke Garbutt spent eight years among the youth ranks here.

Did you know? Leeds won the last meeting between the sides 2-1 in the 2012/13 League Cup, while Everton have won just once at Elland Road in the last 30 years.
