WATFORD: STAT PACK

Andrew Dalton provides the stats ahead of the Hornets' visit...

Watford’s last five visits to Elland Road:
December 7th 2013 - Leeds United 3-3 Watford, Championship
November 10th 2012 - Leeds United 1-6 Watford, Championship
March 31st 2012 - Leeds United 0-2 Watford, Championship
March 16th 2011 - Leeds United 2-2 Championship
August 25th 2009 - Leeds United 2-1 Watford, Carling Cup 2nd round

Five who played for both:
Danny Webber - The Manchester-born forward had three separate spells at Vicarage Road, two of them loan and one permanent between March 2002 and May 2005. In total he made 80 appearances for the Hornets, scoring 21 goals. He then had spells at both Sheffield United and Portsmouth before joining Leeds on a free transfer in March 2012. He scored once in 13 games for Leeds.

Paul Okon - Okon had a loan spell at Watford, joining from Middlesbrough in January 2002, where he made 15 appearances. He joined Leeds on a free transfer in August 2002 and appeared 21 times.

Matthew Spring - The Harlow-born midfielder joined Leeds from Luton Town in the summer of 2004. Sadly he was ravaged by injury at Elland Road and only made 15 appearances and scoring one goal, before joining Watford in August 2005. He made 53 appearances, scoring nine goals for the Hornets.

Paul Robinson - The Watford-born defender came through the youth ranks at Vicarage Road, signing on as a trainee in August 1996. His stay at the Hornets lasted over seven years, making 255 appearances and scoring nine goals. Spells at West Brom and Bolton Wanderers soon followed, before joining Leeds on loan in March 2012. He featured 10 times in a white shirt.

Carlton Palmer - Palmer joined Leeds from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 1994, making 133 appearances and scoring seven goals. He then joined Southampton, before spells at Nottingham Forest and Coventry City soon followed. He joined Watford on loan from Coventry in December 2000, appearing five times.

Five games to remember:
It wasn’t quite a Valentine’s massacre back in 2006, but the game at Elland Road between the two sides did produce some fireworks. Ashley Young had given the Hornets the lead, but red cards to both Ben Foster and Darius Henderson changed the game. First Robbie Blake scored from the spot before winning the game with a shot inside the area.

Chris Turner only featured twice for the Whites, but one of these was a 2-1 win over Watford at Elland Road in November 1989. Gary Penrice had given the visitors the lead but second half goals from Chris Fairclough and Andy Williams won the day for the hosts

Michael Duberry scored his first goal for the Whites as they continued their push for a Champions League place with a 3-1 over the Hornets in May 2000. Another Michael, Bridges, gave Leeds the lead before Dominic Foley levelled for the visitors. Strikes from Duberry and Huckebry ensured a crucial three points for the hosts.

Leeds' last Elland Road win over Watford came in a Carling Cup Second Round tie in August 2009. Robert Snodgrass gave the Whites the lead in the 38th minute before Marvin Sordell ensured extra time. It was that man Snodgrass who won the tie in the 98th minute

Last season’s affair was a game to remember as first Watford took a 2-0 half-time lead through goals from Troy Deeney and Christian Battocchio. Leeds turned the game on its head with goals from Danny Pugh, Matt Smith and Ross McCormack, before Deeney had the last word.
