United head coach Neil Redfearn is among four managers nominated for the Sky Bet Championship 'Manager of the Month' award for January.

Redfearn has overseen an unbeaten month in the league and has recently seen his team record back-to-wins with victories over league leaders AFC Bournemouth and Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town last Saturday.

January saw United pick up up eight points from four matches to ease worries at the club and Redfearn's side now occupy 19th place in the Sky Bet Championship table with 32 points, five points clear on the bottom three.

The month began with a tough trip to in-form Bolton Wanderers on January 10 with a Rudy Austin penalty securing a deserved point. Then another in-form side in the shape of Birmingham City were the visitors to Elland Road and Redfearn's men were unlucky to not get the three points after Luke Murphy equalised in the 86th minute to secure a 1-1 draw.

League leaders AFC Bournemouth were next up at Elland Road and Murphy was once again on the scoresheet as United ran out 1-0 winners against the Championship pace-setters on Tuesday January 20.

The month finished with a short trip to Huddersfield to face the Terriers. United took the lead through Sam Byram only for Harry Bunn to equalise before half time. But United's Billy Sharp, a second half substitute, sealed the contest in the 90th minute with a close range header.

'Redders' is up against Middlesbrough's Aitor Karanka, Steve McClaren of Derby County and Saturday's opponents, Brentford's Mark Warburton.

Redfearn’s relaxed demeanour is putting his players at ease, and keeping supporters at Elland Road fairly happy. An eight-point haul from games against four in-form sides included a 1-0 win over leaders AFC Bournemouth.

Mark Warburton (Brentford)
Warburton’s team plays some of the most attractive football in the division. They swept to another three wins in four games to continue their unexpected promotion push. Warburton’s players fully embrace his innovative approach to management.
