SKELTON DEBUTS WHILE COYLE RETURNS

A round-up of the United youngsters out on loan...

It was a mixed week for United’s youngsters out on loan as defender Jake Skelton made his Guiseley debut, while full-back Lewie Coyle saw his spell at Harrogate Town cut short through injury.

Skelton, an 18-year-old centre-back, only joined local Conference North side Guiseley on Friday, but was entrusted with a starting berth for the following day’s clash with Halesowen.

The young defender has moved to Nethermoor Park on a one-month loan deal and he completed 78 minutes of the 3-0 FA Cup qualifying win on Saturday.

Skelton, who joined the club’s academy at Under-10s level, is yet to make his first-team debut for United but he was part of the squad which travelled to northern Italy for pre-season, featuring in the 16-0 victory over FC Gherdeina.

Coyle, meanwhile, has returned to Elland Road for treatment on an injury picked up during Harrogate’s midweek 0-0 draw with Gainsborough Trinity.

The 18-year-old right-back moved to the Conference North outfit on a one-month loan at the start of October and made his debut in the recent 4-0 defeat to Chorley.
