SAM EAGER TO GET GOING AGAIN

United defender on Blackburn trip…

United return to match action at Ewood Park this weekend following the international break and defender Sam Byram says he is “eager to get going.”

A victory over Blackpool on November 8 was United’s last fixture and Sam is hoping he can carry on his recent spell in the side.

“It’s been a good few weeks training,” said Sam. “Redders’ sessions are really intense and we get a lot out of them.

“The boys have worked hard and we have had fun as well. We are eager to get going.

“We need to keep doing what we are doing and keep creating chances. We have done a lot of defensive shape with the back four so we have been working on that.

“We have had some good stuff out of the games recently.

“Personally I wanted there to be a game as soon as possible after the Blackpool game.

“I felt like I was back into a run of form and it was only my second game on the bounce. But I know that the players that have played a lot were happy to have the break to recharge the batteries before the next game.”

Sam is expecting a tough test against Blackburn, who currently occupy seventh place in the Championship table, but he says United will look at their weaknesses.

“We are going to want to go there and get the three points,” explained the defender.

“They have got a lot of good players that we are aware of. We’ll have a meeting on Friday to see what they are about and how they play.

“But it will be about how we set-up our side to go there and try to exploit their weaknesses.”

United will be backed by a bumper away crowd at Blackburn on Saturday and Sam says it doesn’t go unnoticed by the squad.

“I saw on twitter the other day that we were taking a big following,” said Byram. “Obviously playing away from home you are at a disadvantage with the crowd but the Leeds fans are a loud bunch on away trips.

“It really does help when they get behind us.

“It really shows the commitment. Some people really do give up their weekends to come and watch us and the players don’t forget about that.

“We know how hard it is for some fans to get to the games and we massively appreciate it.”
