GARRY LIDDELL

GARRY LIDDELL

We are saddened to learn of the passing away of our former striker...

Everybody at Leeds United was saddened to learn that former striker Garry Liddell passed away last week at the age of 60.

Garry, who attended the same school as Billy Bremner and was spotted by the same scout, arrived at Elland Road from Scotland as an apprentice in 1971 and made seven appearances, scoring once, during his six-year stay at the club.

While at United, the striker was selected for Scotland’s World Youth Cup finals squad in 1972, but unfortunately had to withdraw through injury.

He went on to join Grimsby Town in 1977, where he made over 100 appearances before returning to Scotland with Hearts and eventually ending his career at Doncaster Rovers.

Our thoughts are with Garry’s family and friends at this sad time.
