New head coach Uwe Rosler has outlined what he believes are the "key ingredients" to achieve success at Leeds, saying everybody at the club and the supporters need to be "driving in one direction".

The former Brentford and Wigan boss was unveiled as the new man in charge at Elland Road on Wednesday afternoon after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.

Rosler already has his sights set on improving on last season’s 15th-place finish in the Championship, but he insists there will be no “big overhaul” of the squad this summer.

"I think the key ingredient is the right expectation, setting the right level of targets and creating chemistry between the staff and the players and also between the supporters where everybody is driving in one direction," he said.

"I think that is crucial. When your expectations are too high, sometimes teams get nervous and show problems like losing their confidence.

"I think you can achieve a lot with hard work and being clever in the transfer market. You don’t need the biggest budget.

"Obviously money helps, but it is not the solution for winning automatic promotion. I think we should look at a club like Bournemouth or what I did at Brentford with far less budgets than some of the big guns."

Asked about the pressure and weight of expectation which coaching the club brings, Rosler replied: "I thrive on pressure.

"I think it’s very important for the job I’m working in to accept that there’s pressure around you and use it in the best possible way.

"The chairman made it clear to me that he wants the next building block. The foundation was laid down with the nucleus of the team.

"There will be no big overhaul – not 10 or 15 new players.

"The nucleus of the team will stay. We will bring some new players in but not many.

"I think this group of players deserve to get to the next level and hopefully I as a coach and my coaching team can help them.

"The expectation for me is that I want to win every game. I know this is not possible but we will always be looking to get more points on the table.

"I think we need to develop the players individually and collectively. For me personally, top 10 would be the level to aim for at first."

Rosler has previously played at Elland during his Manchester City days and helped his former side secure a 1-0 Premier League win back in December 1995.

So having already tasted the famous atmosphere, the head coach believes the home crowd can be used as a major advantage to his new club.

"I think that is a great weapon and we all have to understand that. We all have to get on board together to create that special atmosphere," Rosler said.

"I think Elland Road should be an absolute fortress. Those players who did well this season deserve massive support going into next season.

"Hopefully that can give them the boost to reach the next level."
