TIME FOR RECOVERY - REDFEARN

Neil Redfearn on international break…

After picking up four points away from home last week, with a win at Fulham and a draw at Blackpool, United head coach Neil Redfearn insists the international break will be used as a time for recovery.

Since the turn of the year United have seen a turnaround in fortunes on the road with five away wins from eight games, and the head coach is hoping for a strong finish to the season after the break.

“It’s been a good week,” said the United head coach. “Our away form has been tremendous in terms of results and performances.

“We have got to keep doing the right things. We have got games left that we want to do well in and we want to finish the season on a real high.

“We are on 52 points now and that is a far better total from where we were when I first took over and we were two points off the drop.

“We are going to give the players a little breather because they have put a real shift in. There are one or two carrying knocks, bumps and bruises and it is important that they use this time to recover.

“Obviously there are some lads going away on international duty and I’m hoping that the powers that be look after them, which I’m sure that they will.

“The other lads will do some training that they will get some time to recover.”

The United head coach has confirmed the players will continue to train throughout the international break and insists they will be ready for the final run-in of the Championship season.

“We’ll have the lads in during the break and once next weekend is out of the way we’ll be back to a normal week where we’ll be planning for Blackburn,” said Redfearn.

“If we can finish in the top 10 that will be a fantastic achievement because it wasn’t looking good at one point. That is what we want to try and do.

“We want to get in there and in a good position so it looks better for next year. The lads will then go away with some confidence and believe so we can kick on next season.”
