2014/15 Player of the Year Alex Mowatt says he "can’t wait for pre-season" as he prepares to go on his first summer tour with the club.

Alex missed last year’s trip to Italy through injury and was not part of the travelling squad which went to Slovenia the year before, meaning the forthcoming visit to Austria and Norway is something he is particularly looking forward to.

Having enjoyed his summer break during the close season, the 20-year-old midfielder is now fully focused on returning to Thorp Arch and linking up with the rest of the squad for training next week.

“It’s been good, I’ve had a good break and I’m ready to get back at it now,” he said.

“I’ve had a few holidays but I’ve been running in between them to keep my fitness. I can’t wait for pre-season now.

“I’m just getting back to a good base of fitness so that when we come back I’m ready to go.

“I’ve heard the fixtures and I’m looking forward to them – they’re good fixtures. I didn’t go on the tour last season or the one before so this will be my first.”

Alex is also upbeat about the appointment of Uwe Rosler and is hoping to catch the eye of the new head coach and his staff during the summer.

“I haven’t met him yet but I’ve heard good things about him,” he said. “It will be good to meet him.

“There’s a lot of new backroom staff as well so we’ll have to make a good impression.

“There are two new signings so it will be good to get working with them. I haven’t had chance to meet them yet.”
