United striker Noel Hunt is continuing his road to recovery and says that his first team return isn’t too far away.

The striker, who was speaking at Lorimer’s Bar this week, said that the start to his United career has been a frustrating one due to an injury he sustained early in the season.

"It has been the most frustrating period of my career,” said Noel.

"I got injured early on and we tried papering over the cracks and it didn't work. I want to play every game but I tore my hamstring.

"The pain is going away and I'm now back in training, which is great. I'm seeing a specialist soon so I’m hoping to get the OK to start playing in games again.

"I watched the Leicester game from the stands and I was gutted for the lads afterwards. We didn't deserve to lose that match."

One hot topic of conversation at Lorimer’s Bar on Monday was the club’s new captain Ross McCormack.

The United striker said that it is a huge honour to be named the captain and that he will always remember the first time he led the team out, particularly as he was accompanied by his young son Layton, who was a matchday mascot.

"It was special and it's something I will have with me forever,” said Ross.

"After the gaffer and Rudy spoke I was asked to take on the captaincy and I was honoured to take it.

“It is special to be the captain of such a huge club like Leeds United."

The newly installed skipper feels that his new role will be helped by the squad and says that consistency will be key to a successful second half of the season.

"I see it as a challenge but the group of lads will help. I'm not one to shout but I'll tell someone if they need it,” added Ross.

"We now need to have consistency. We might not be the prettiest team but no sides will get an easy ride against us again."
